Mini Painting Challenge in July
For the month of July, I challenged myself to do one mini 4x6-inch painting a day in order to keep my creative practice going. Adjusting to a new job and working two jobs this summer, I have found it hard to keep creating and working on new ideas. For years I have seen people do a variety of “one-a-day…” challenges and thought now was the time. I appreciated the challenge's low-stakes nature and found it easier than I thought to commit to one small painting a day.
With this challenge, I also enjoyed testing out all my watercolor colors and different brands to see how the colors danced and talked with each other. My favorite part of painting this series was embracing intuitive gestures and letting the color conversations guide the composition. I found many satisfying new combinations of colors and forms that I cannot wait to apply to other project ideas and on a larger scale! Check out all 31 of the mini paintings below!
